SISU Women’s Advocacy Group

  • SISU Women Advocacy Group (SWAG) is a female led outreach initiative specifically targeting and engaging young women who are at high risk for criminal and/or anti-social behaviors; including associating with known gang members, fighting at school, carrying a weapon, contacts with the Police Department, running away, etc. SISU is a Youthbuild location providing workforce development, case management and outreach, mental health services, education and enrichment (vocational training, trades, HiSET, lifeskills, etc.) SISU engages, inspires and supports the youth of Lawrence with educational opportunities, career development and character growth to empower positive transformation and develop community leaders.

Nashua Soup Kitchen & Shelter (NSKS)

  • Found in Translation, located in Boston, Massachusetts, has a two-fold mission: To give low-income bilingual women an opportunity to achieve economic security through the use of their language skills and to reduce racial, ethnic, and linguistic disparities in health care by unleashing bilingual talent into the workforceTheir Language Access Fellowship program is designed to level the playing field for talented, driven low-income and homeless bilingual women: It is free-of-charge; includes common-sense supports such as on-site childcare, transportation assistance, mentoring, and career coaching; and leads directly into jobs paying $25/hr+.

Rosie’s Place

  • Rosie’s Place was founded in 1974 as the first shelter for women in the country.
    They created a sanctuary of hope, a place where every woman was welcomed. Listened to. Understood. Loved.  Rosie’s Place is a multi-service community center that offers women emergency shelter and meals, and so much more: a food pantry, ESOL classes, legal assistance, wellness care, one-on-one support, housing and job search services, and community outreach.
