🎉Meet Carla Poulos, our newest Program Manager! We are developing and expanding our team to meet demand for our financial wellness program and we are thrilled to have Carla in this new role.
⭐Carla shares, “What drew me to Women`s Money Matters is a shared vision that women are financially stable and empowered to create a secure future for themselves and their families. Unfortunately, women are disproportionately affected by income disparities and feeling empowered is key to change this.
I was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York and have always worked with marginalized populations. I believe that change happens when populations are empowered to make safe and secure decisions for themselves.”
Carla joins us with experience as a social worker and a history of working in the civic and non-profit industries. Carla is fluent in Spanish and has been involved in community organizing.
We’re so excited to welcome Carla to the team, we’re excited to have her support our financial wellness program and further our mission to empower women living on low-incomes!

📢 We`re proud to join forces with 100+ incredible organizations in endorsing Healthy Families Tax Credits Coalition`s letter, championing the Massachusetts House`s $600 per child #ChildFamilyTaxCredit. This credit is a game-changer, set to uplift over 1 MILLION children and dependents while steering our state and country towards impactful, evidence-based tax policies.
👉 Check out the full letter here: bit.ly/3OqwS4B
We are an organization whose vision is a world in which all women have a financially stable life so we support systemic changes that support families on low-incomes, who are often headed by mothers. We signed onto this letter to urge our House of Representatives to stand behind this transformative tax credit initiative. These credits have a proven track record of advancing racial equity, reducing poverty, and providing vital relief to families facing significant challenges. Over 700,000 families in Massachusetts will benefit from this crucial support.
🤝 Every family in MA deserves a helping hand from their government. The existing state tax regulations have made it tough for working families to access these essential credits. Let`s come together and advocate for #TaxCreditFairness.
Let`s create a brighter future for families across Massachusetts!

August is “Make a Will” month and recently we held our “Introduction to Estate Planning: Not just for the wealthy!” Level-Up workshop which emphasized the importance of planning for loved ones when you are no longer around.
Why estate planning? No matter what your “estate” includes, everyone needs a plan. Having a legal up-to-date will is a powerful way to protect your loved ones, make important decisions about the future on your own terms, and support those in your life.
Just like financial wellness needs, everyone’s estate planning needs are different. But if you’ve not yet had the opportunity to think through your plans for the future, we are encouraging you to feel comfortable and empowered to begin creating your will!
For more resources for members of the WMM Community of graduates and volunteers, especially for women living on low-incomes surrounding making a will and estate planning, join our WMM Connect and check out our resources available. https://community.womensmoneymatters.org/

Meet Shelina Sayani, Program Manager here at Women’s Money Matters.
🗨️"What I enjoy most about working in the non-profit sector is the ability directly and significantly impact our participants` quality of life for the better. Seeing the results our programming has on their skills and confidence is immensely rewarding."
🌩️"When I was 10 years old I wanted to be Storm from the X-Men when I grew up -- a powerful, inclusive woman who used her abilities for good. I like to think I do much of the same here at Women`s Money Matters (minus the lighting bolts)."
We appreciate all Shelina does for participants, volunteers, team, and our whole Women’s Money Matters community.
And here`s a picture of Shelina doing something she loves, traveling in the Azores!
