π Witness the power of advocacy and resilience! In this heartfelt testimony, Ariela courageously speaks out about the challenges she and many other Women`s Money Matters participants and graduates face, along with countless families impacted by the cliff effect. The cliff effect occurs when earning slightly more money results in losing a lot of benefits all at once, making it tougher to achieve financial stability. Arielaβs story powerfully underscores the urgent need for change.
At Women`s Money Matters, we are dedicated to addressing these challenges head-on. We are proud to promote the Bridge to Prosperity Pilot Program, which will provide crucial support for families at risk of falling `off` the cliff. This initiative is a collaborative effort with Springfield Works, Western Mass Economic Development Council, the Food Bank of Western Mass, and the Economic Pathways Coalition.
π’We need YOUR support! Please contact your Massachusetts House Representative and ask for their support and co-sponsorship on Amendment #889. Together, we can amplify the voices of women like Ariela in our program, in our communities, and across our state whose economic trajectory is derailed by the cliff effects.
Together, we`re making a difference and building a stronger, more resilient community.

Take, for example, one of our graduates who is a Boston Bullpen recipientβa woman whose car caught fire while driving with her daughter. Thanks to the support of these direct relief initiatives, we were able to provide funding to help with food insecurities and the unexpected expenses caused by the car fire.
There are so many women in our programs with similar needs just waiting to be met by Boston Bullpen, @neighborshare, or the WMM EmpowHERment fund.
Your participation in events like 'The Dream Team' not only honors Boston's sports legacy but also empowers individuals and families in our community facing adversity.

π Join our resource partner, Boston Bullpen *this* Sunday for an evening of sports nostalgia and community support! π
We`re thrilled to share @bostonbullpenproject`s upcoming event, `The Dream Team: The 1980s Boston Globe Sports Staff,` happening this April 14th from 6 β 8 pm at the Jordanβs Furniture IMAX Theatre in Reading, MA.
Get ready for an unforgettable journey through Boston`s sports history as we gather to celebrate the iconic ensemble hailed as `the greatest sports staff ever` by Sports Illustrated.
But this event is more than just a trip down memory lane. It`s a chance to make a real difference in our community. With 100% of proceeds going to individuals facing hardship in Greater Boston and beyond, your attendance directly contributes to meaningful change. We are partners of the Boston Bullpen, so this event also supports women in our programs who receive direct financial relief from our referral to Boston Bullpen.

π Did you know? Despite progress, there`s still a significant gender wealth gap in women-led families. According to recent data, the median wealth of female respondents is just 55 cents for every dollar of male respondent wealth. That`s a staggering 45% penalty in median family wealth for women compared to men.
Even after adjusting for various individual and family characteristics, the gap persists. Female respondents still face a median wealth that is 9% less than that of male respondents. These findings suggest that families with a female respondent may be less resilient to unexpected shocks, less prepared for retirement, and less able to support children`s upward economic mobility.
This Financial Empowerment Month, let`s tackle these disparities head-on!
Join us at Women`s Money Matters as we celebrate Financial Literacy Month by empowering women and girls living on low-incomes with the knowledge, skills, and confidence they need to bridge the gender wealth gap and achieve financial wellness.
Together, let`s make a difference in people`s lives by promoting financial literacy and empowerment! πͺπ°
