Empower women & girls to improve their financial health to create a more secure future for their families & communities.

Effective date: July 27, 2026

Women’s Money Matters Inc. (“Women’s Money Matters,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides free financial education programs, coaching, and community support to women and girls. Many of the people we serve share sensitive financial information with us, and we treat that trust as central to our mission.

This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, how we use and protect it, and the choices you have. It applies to womensmoneymatters.org, our program portal at my.womensmoneymatters.org, our online community at community.womensmoneymatters.org, and the programs and services we provide.

Information we collect

Program participants

When you express interest in or enroll in one of our programs, we collect the information you provide on our forms. This may include your name, email address, phone number, mailing address, date of birth, preferred language, demographic information, your financial goals and circumstances, your availability for sessions, and any story or feedback you choose to share with us.

Volunteers

When you apply to volunteer as a coach or workshop presenter, we collect your name, contact details, professional background, areas of expertise, availability, and the information you provide in your application.

Donors and supporters

When you donate or otherwise support our work, we collect your name and contact information along with details of your gift. Payment card details are handled directly by our payment processors and are not stored on our systems.

Website visitors

When you visit our websites, we automatically receive standard technical information such as your IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, and referring site. We use cookies and similar technologies as described below.

Credit information

Measuring whether our programs genuinely improve participants’ financial health is central to our mission, and credit health is one of the ways we measure it. Where a participant gives us explicit consent, we obtain credit information from a third-party credit information provider at defined points, typically at the start of a program, at its conclusion, and at follow-up intervals afterward.

Because this is sensitive, we want to be direct about it:

  • We obtain credit information only where you have given explicit consent, and that consent covers a defined period connected to the program you enrolled in.
  • These are soft inquiries used for program evaluation. They do not affect your credit score.
  • We use this information to understand and report on program outcomes, including in aggregated and de-identified form for funders and public reporting. We do not use it to make decisions about credit, employment, insurance, or housing, and we never sell it.
  • You may withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us.

How we use your information

  • To enroll you in programs, match you with a coach, and run our programs and workshops
  • To communicate with you about your program, sessions, schedule changes, and next steps
  • To provide support and respond to your questions
  • To measure, evaluate, and improve our programs and report on our impact, generally in aggregated or de-identified form
  • To recruit, screen, train, and support volunteers
  • To acknowledge donations and share news about our work
  • To keep our sites secure and to meet our legal, accounting, and grant reporting obligations

How we share information

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share it only in these circumstances:

  • Service providers. We use trusted vendors to operate our programs, including a customer relationship management system that serves as our system of record, email delivery services, our website and portal hosting providers, and our credit information provider. They may access personal information only to perform services for us and are required to protect it.
  • Coaches and program volunteers. If you are matched with a coach, we share the information they need to support you effectively. Our volunteers agree to confidentiality expectations as a condition of serving.
  • Funders and partner organizations. We report on our programs to funders and partners, generally in aggregated or de-identified form. Where a partner organization referred you to us, we may confirm your participation with them.
  • Legal reasons. We may disclose information where required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of participants, staff, or the organization.

Cookies and analytics

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep the site working, remember your preferences, and understand how people use our site. We use Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager for analytics. You can control cookies through your browser settings, though blocking some cookies may affect how the site works.

How we protect your information

We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information. These include encrypted connections, access controls that limit staff and volunteer access to what their role requires, and secure sign-in for our program portal. Our portal signs you in using a one-time link sent to your email address. We will never ask you for a password, a payment, or your banking login details. No system can be guaranteed completely secure, but we work to protect your information and to respond quickly if a problem arises.

How long we keep information

We keep personal information for as long as needed to serve you, to measure long-term program outcomes, and to meet our legal, audit, and grant reporting obligations. When information is no longer needed, we delete it or de-identify it.

Your choices and rights

  • Access and correction. You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct anything inaccurate.
  • Deletion. You can ask us to delete your personal information, subject to records we are required to keep.
  • Email preferences. You can unsubscribe from our newsletter and marketing emails at any time using the link in any such email. We will still send messages necessary to run your program.
  • Consent withdrawal. You can withdraw consent for credit information collection, or for the use of your story, at any time.

To exercise any of these, contact us using the details below. We will respond within a reasonable time.

Children’s privacy

Our websites are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through our websites. Where we offer programming for participants under the age of 18, we collect and use their information only with the involvement and consent of a parent or guardian. If you believe a child has provided us information without appropriate consent, please contact us and we will remove it.

Our sites link to other organizations, including partners, funders, and social media platforms. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites, and we encourage you to read their policies.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date at the top of this page. We will communicate significant changes to program participants directly.
