Women’s Money Matters Names Gabriela Mondino Coach of the Year
Global marketing executive recognized for six cohorts of volunteer coaching, bilingual program leadership, and launching a record-breaking entrepreneurship workshop
Women’s Money Matters (WMM), a Massachusetts-based nonprofit providing financial wellness programs for women and girls living on low incomes, has named Gabriela Mondino its Coach of the Year. The award recognizes a volunteer who builds strong, supportive relationships with participants and helps them navigate their financial journeys with confidence and care. Recipients are selected through nominations from peers and the WMM team.
Mondino, whose 30-year global marketing career included serving as Head of Global Marketing Excellence at Sanofi, has coached six cohorts across WMM’s Financial Futures and Road to Retirement financial wellness programs during the 2025-2026 program year, making her one of the organization’s most active volunteers.
“At Women’s Money Matters, I have seen firsthand what’s possible when access to knowledge is paired with consistent support,” said Mondino. “Financial wellness is the entry point, but what unfolds goes much deeper: confidence grows, possibilities expand, and decisions begin to be shaped by a broader sense of what’s achievable. What stays with me most are the small but powerful moments: when a participant shares that she opened her first savings account, registered her business, or is thinking about her future in a new way. It’s a privilege to stand with them in those moments.”
Mondino’s contributions extend well beyond her role as a coach. Fluent in English, Spanish, French, and Italian, she was instrumental in building WMM’s Intro to Entrepreneurship Level Up Workshop from the ground up, identifying resources and securing a business lawyer to serve as a guest speaker. The English-language session drew 110 registrations. The Spanish-language version drew 38, in what is believed to be a WMM record.
What It Means to Be a WMM Coach
WMM coaches are the backbone of the organization’s Financial Futures financial wellness program, a three-month, cohort-based program for women living on low incomes. Each coach is matched one-to-one with a participant, meeting weekly alongside 90-minute financial wellness workshops and in individual sessions to work on specific goals and challenges. They build relationships of trust, offer consistent support, and walk alongside participants as they develop the confidence and skills to take charge of their financial futures. No financial expertise is required.
Peer nominators described Mondino as “dedicated, reliable, bilingual, culturally responsive, proactive, and community-centered,” and noted that she is “completely selfless and enjoys helping other women thrive.”
“Gabriela embodies everything we look for in a WMM coach,” said Ariana Contreras, Associate Director of Volunteer Partnerships, “She shows up consistently, she leads with care, and she brings a level of initiative that has created real value for our participants and our organization. We are grateful for everything she contributes.”
Mondino brings more than professional expertise to her volunteer work. “I often encourage the women I work with to dream big and plan small,” she said. “My role is simply to walk alongside them as they move forward, helping create the conditions for progress, one step at a time.”
